Berserkers are the speediest and craziest of the bunch. Embermages wield the power of the elements, conjuring weapons of pure flame and making shards of ice rain down from the sky. Engineers excel at dealing slow, devastating attacks with massive weaponry, and can whip up healing robots, turrets, and other support machinery. As an outlander, you can use a wide assortment of ranged weapons-bows, pistols, shotguns, and more-to damage enemies from a distance, and you can hurl a spinning glaive that ricochets off of foes. What does have an impact are the classes and their varied abilities. The story is a perfectly adequate excuse to send you slicing, blasting, and casting your way across the land, but it doesn't have much impact on the overall experience. As one of a new set of adventurers seeking fortune and glory, you set off to stop him. Setting out on a misguided quest, the alchemist has left the town of Torchlight in ruins and cut a swath of destruction across the land. Now, fans can look forward to playing the game on Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch September 3. The game did very well, even with direct competition from Blizzard’s Diablo III. Torchlight 2 took the same formula for the first game and served it up with a higher level of refinement, as well as adding in multiplayer support, a feature that was sorely missing from the original game. Loot fanatics will find a lot to like about Torchlight 2 when it comes to Nintendo Switch. It went on to become a big hit and work on the sequel began shortly after. Just as important, it was a game that people could actually buy and play, unlike Diablo III. The game had a colorful palette and world design that was inviting to a wide range of players, rather than sticking to the drab, gothic aesthetic of the Diablo series. You dispatch enemies and collect loot that allows your character to steadily increase their power. Torchlight took the concept behind loot-heavy action RPGs such as Diablo and Titan Quest and simplified the formula to its purest form. Former members of the Diablo II team ended up at Runic Games and began work on Torchlight. Blizzard was hard at work on Diablo III, but the game had a long and troubled development path and took more than a decade to arrive on PC.
